Sending scarves to soldiers in Afghanistan

Some call it the “Forgotten War” in the war on terror, but Pat Johnson and some friends haven’t forgotten American forces fighting in Afghanistan. The group recently hand-made more than 60 scarves for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Services serving and is about to ship them off.

Pat has been a lifelong knitter but hadn’t pulled out her needles for quite a while when she began the effort. Pat says the idea to make and donate the scarves came to her last year after she saw a news story on the bleak and forbidding circumstances faced by soldiers in Afghanistan.
